We follow the fish!
SeaWind Fishing Adventures operates out of two west coast Vancouver Island fishing locations, Port Renfrew or Sooke, depending
on the time of year. In that way we can provide our visitors with
the very best fishing experience possible!
Port Renfrew - June to September
Port Renfrew is located north of Sooke, a leisurely 2-hour drive from
downtown Victoria. Our moorage at Port Renfrew provides access to the rich feeding grounds of the Swiftsure Bank. After approximately 45 minutes boat ride out of Port Renfrew, you will find yourself in an incredible ocean ecosystem, with pelagic birds, humpback and Orca whales, and of course world-class fishing for halibut and salmon. In spring and summer, thousands of migrating salmon pass
by Swiftsure Bank along the coastal highway, heading towards the mighty Fraser and Columbia Rivers and countless smaller streams, providing excellent fishing opportunities! Port Renfrew is one of the best places in BC to chase the hard-hitting big "Kings" or "Chinook" salmon. Add in Coho ("silver") salmon, halibut, red snapper, and ling cod, and you have the potential an amazing day's fishing! August-September offer unbeatable Coho salmon fishing, with 25 pound plus trophies possible.
June to July Halibut and Chinook salmon
August to September Halibut, Chinook & Coho salmon
Sooke - October to May
Sooke BC is located on Vancouver Island's beautiful west coast, just
a 40-minute drive from Victoria. Sooke offers year-round fishing. Seawind's "winter" fishing season begins in early October
with winter chinook salmon (feeder springs or "black mouth" salmon) that range from 5-25 pounds. The halibut fishing starts in March and is excellent into May. May and June the big "King" or "Chinook" salmon begin their migration down the Juan de Fuca Strait towards their home rivers...passing right by Sooke and providing excellent fishing opportunities.
